Interview with Dana Lorriane

Alexis: Today we have erotic romance author, Dana Lorraine who has just released Dying to Love Her. Welcome Dana.

Dana: Happy New Year everyone! I’m thrilled to be here at Happily Ever After Thoughts to share my erotic paranormal M/F/M ménage, Dying to Love Her. Thanks for having me.

Alexis: What was the first romance you ever read?

Dana: Ever since I was a tween and picked up Double Love (and no it’s not a ménage like the ones I write) I’ve been hooked on romance. It’s the first book in Francine Pascal’s teen series, Sweet Valley High. I couldn’t get enough of Elizabeth (I sooo wanted to be her) and her twin sister Jessica (I sooo hated her) and their drama—most of which involved some dreamy boy.

Alexis: When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

Dana: So I always liked to write. When I was in high school I wrote for the school paper and never shied away from an essay contest. In college I didn’t cringe (too much) when a lengthy term paper was assigned, but it wasn’t until I started writing book reviews and attending the Romantic Times Convention that I realized what I wanted to do was write stories.

Alexis: Everyone has their own writing process…how they come up with ideas, how they name their characters, how they choose the setting. Can you describe your writing process?

Dana: I work part-time for a major bookstore, have two active teenagers—that means my schedule is all over the place. Really, I fit writing in when I can but I always fit it in. I think if you want to be published and continually get new work out there it’s a daily process. Being the panster that I am, ideas kind of just hit me. I might think of a funny bit of dialogue or hear a song that inspires me. What if? That’s the question I usually start with and then I’ll bounce the idea of my critique partners and friends.

Alexis: What has been the best piece of advice you ever received for your writing career?

Dana:  Don’t give up. Keep working at it, keep learning and perfecting your style but don’t be stubborn or refuse to take criticism. Dying to Love Her was originally rejected by an editor but she believed in the story and gave me some suggestions of how I could make it better. I listened.

Alexis: What do you think everyone should know about your husband?

Dana: He might not look like the typical romance hero (although I think he’s pretty darn cute) but it’s what inside that counts. He’s always supported my dream and read my work even though romance is the last thing he wants to read. As far as dads go he’s the best! I don’t think I could write about love without so much of it in my life. I have my hubby to thank for that. Oh…and when I have a technical meltdown with the computer he always comes to the rescue.

Alexis: Oh wow, you really do have a hero! Dana, thank you so much for being with us on Happily Ever After Thoughts. It was a pleasure to interview you :-)

When Melanie Woodson joins Empriva Fitness she expects to lose weight, not gain two sexy vampire personal trainers. With an exercise regimen that includes passionate horizontal workouts, fat-burning orgasms and lusty words of encouragement, she’s in serious danger of forgetting their relationship is based on a business agreement and not mutual attraction.

Alec Kosta and Rook Abernathy, best friends and owners of Empriva, have waited over a century for the right lifemate to come along. Now that they’ve found Melanie, with her endless curves and quick wit, they’re ready to give up countless lifetimes to spend just one with her.

But time isn’t on their side—they’ve tasted her blood and now mere days are all they have to convince her their love is real or risk losing their chance to be with her forever.

About Dana
Dana Lorraine never dreamed she’d grow up to be a writer. A voracious reader of romance, one day she decided to write one of her own. And now she never wants to stop. Paranormal, sci-fi or contemporary, ménage or one-on-one, don’t ask her to limit herself to just one type because she loves them all.

She makes killer meatballs, loves to reread her favorite romances and likes any drink served with an umbrella. A bookseller by day and mother of two wonderful daughters all the time, you’ll find Dana sweet-talking her husband into doing laundry and bringing home take-out so she has more time to write.

  1. Books, family, and love-sounds like the best basis for a romance author to have! Your blurb sounds like a fun and exciting story. Does Melanie know the trainers are vampires? That sounds like a sure turn-on right there!!
