Why did you choose this sub-genre for romance? 

Jennifer: I love kink! A LOT! This is the only sub-genre I could imagine writing. And with how many hours needed to invest in writing and promo and edits and everything else that goes into publishing a book, I’d better LOVE it!

Alexis: That makes sense :-) So which authors inspired you? 

Jennifer: Lots actually for very different reasons. JR Ward because I love how different each of her characters are. Maya Banks and Shayla Black because DAMN both of those ladies can write wicked good ménage. Lori Foster for how different her storylines are. CJ Roberts – YOWZA!! She takes consent to the wall and back. Lora Leigh for the ability to create an entirely new species so flawlessly. Many many many more.

Alexis: We all tend to remember our first, first romance novel, that is. What was the first erotic romance you ever read? 

Jennifer: Lora Leigh – Wicked Pleasure. Holy schnikes, Batman! I can still remember the first time I saw the B&W and yellow cover. How hot it was, and that it was ménage?!? OMG, yes!! I’d read other romance books before but they were, meh, on the best of days. I like things hot and steamy…including my books!

Alexis: Whew, is it getting hot in here? What was the strangest thing that inspired a story for you? 

Jennifer: It’s actually for Orgasm University, my latest book. I’ve NEVER been into medical fetish. Seen porn and that kind of stuff but seriously it wasn’t something I ever thought I’d write. THEN I had a dream…about a friend of mine…a kinky friend. AWKWARD! And then I went to a class at a dungeon about medical fetish. Was I even particularly interested in it then? Nope, sure wasn’t. But then a friend of mine kept pulling out restraints, immobilizing people, for pain, for pleasure. I couldn’t NOT write it. The Segufix and the Straitjacket both have…ahh…starring roles in the book. Seriously dirty people!

Alexis: Whoa, you definitely did your research. So what was your first writer’s conference? 

Jennifer: Ellora’s Cave Romanticon last October. It was amazing! Fun dinners, awards, drag queens, EC cavemen (YUMMY), and I had my first author signing.  It was so great! Can’t wait for this year. Yea!!!
