As an author, I often have the privilege of signing books for fans. I try to say something personal if it is someone I know, or if it is a gift. Recently, a friend of mine had me sign a copy of Masque for her administrative assistant who really enjoyed my books. Masque is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death,” so it has 7 colored rooms, each with a different sexual experience.
The administrative assistant had just married a man in the
IT department at the college where she worked, so I wrote a little note in the
book about how the story might give her some ideas for her new married life.
She was so excited when the book came in the mail, mine was her first signed book
ever, that she showed her husband who asked what I meant by my note. She told
him to read it to find out. She said he never reads anything…but he did!
Now
they have so much fun because she can tell him what colored room she’s in the
mood for and he understands. How cool is that? My little book has now become a
sexual code for newlyweds. I couldn’t be more pleased :-)
Always,
Lexi
