Forgive me...I couldn’t resist that bad joke!
The truth is, I did just get back from Dallas ….but we took
Southwest.
Why were we in Dallas ? This past weekend, my DH and I had
the privilege of witnessing our son stand before a judge and recite his vows to
the woman he fell in love with (I will admit, I love her too….she’s a lovely
woman, inside and out). It was a moment we’ve been waiting to see since he met
her. The ceremony was sweet and simple and I will admit my eyes were a little
watery—my son, the little boy I watched grow into a wonderful man—wasn’t
nervous…not in the least. In fact, I’ve never seen him more certain of anything
in his life as he stood tall and proud and pledged to honor, love and cherish
this woman who has made him so happy.
Most of us spend our lives looking for our soul
mate, the other half of ourselves that makes us complete. I’m so glad he found
his.
We also met the bride’s parents for the
first time and I now know where she got her big heart and capacity to love
unconditionally. We were welcomed with open arms and I saw how much they adore
my son. Even before he and his bride exchanged rings, these lovely people
treated him as one of their own. I can’t tell you how happy that made me.
We are home now, my DH and I, but my son and his wife are just
beginning their journey as a married couple. I know that, just like in the
romance novels we read and love, they will have their happily ever after.
As
always, happy reading!
Marie
