Furry Friends

         Hello, gentle readers!
Well, I’ve done it again. Procrastinated. Isn’t it amazing that when you have time (or think you do), things that you normally do by a certain day just simply goes by the way side? For instance, today is Monday, Labor Day, and I usually write my blog on Sunday afternoon so it’s posted and ready for Wednesday. Didn’t quite happen this week as I thought (mistakenly) that I had time and Sunday just kinda flew by without me noticing.
Schatzie's Favorite Place. That's a partially chewed
bone behind her.
Even worse, I do not have a topic to talk about! But….as I sit in front of my computer, I can hear my dog. She is sitting in the living room, watching me watching her. She’s also got one of her toys in her mouth and she’s making little noises so that I will “notice” her. She wants to play. This is not unusual. She always wants to play. And I, being the good fur-baby mommy, will play. She’s just waiting for me to give her the signal.
Is she spoiled? Well, I’d have to say yes. And that’s completely my fault. I know this and I accept it. She is, after all, my girl. She has toys galore (a favorite right now is her Fuzzy Man….yes, it has squeakers….what was I thinking?) and bones and oh, cookies! Lots and lots of cookies (do you know they make dog treats that look like Oreos? They do and she loves them!)
She also has her favorite place to relax. It’s the corner of the love seat where she can catch the breeze from the air conditioner as well as the floor fan and woe be to anyone who dares to sit there when she wants to. She’ll give you the evil eye until you move.
Like I said, spoiled.
But it’s okay. She deserves it. She’s a faithful companion and everyone needs one of those. Some of the characters in my books have had a furry friend (remember Sarge from A Good Man for Katie? Or what about Smudge the cat from A Treasure Worth Keeping?). Of course, we can’t forget the menagerie from A Kiss in the Morning Mist. Not only did Theo have a dog and two cats, she had a duck named Mallory, too! My current hero, Teague, has a dog. His name is Shotgun. These furry friends become characters in their own right and I love that!
What about you? Have any four-legged (or two-legged) friends? Care to share a picture?

As always, happy reading!
Marie

  1. People do have pets and they have a really good bond with them but none of them express that much about them as it is in this post, I don’t have a pet yet but wish to have one now!
