NaNoWriMo

Hello, gentle reader! Can you believe it’s November already? Oh my gosh! How quickly time has flown!
November marks a number of things for me….several important birthdays as well as Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday!). And this year, I’m going to participate in NaNoWriMo! For those of you who don’t know what this is, it’s a writing challenge. The goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. For some of us, that’s a complete novel. For others, it’s a good start. The rules are…well…there really are no rules. Just write. Doesn’t matter if your words aren’t very good…this is a rough draft, meant to be edited and corrected later.
I think I’m up for this challenge even though it’s a lot different than how I normally write. I’m what I call a puzzler. If the scene comes to me (wherever in the manuscript it happens to be), I write it then puzzle it together later when I hit that place (I also go back and keep editing my chapters until they’re as perfect as I can get them before I send them to my critique partners) so this will be different. I’m going to try to go from beginning to end without going back to previous words to fix them.
I didn’t participate in NaNoWriMo last year, but this year, I’m ready. I have finished the first draft of A Kiss in the Sunlight, the third and final installment of the MacDermott Brothers saga. It’s going through critique now. Once that’s done, it’ll go through beta read then off to my publisher so I’m in the unique position of starting a brand new story on November 1. I’ve already done the research as well as written down my plot points so there’s nothing holding me back.
         Wish me luck!

Remember: Spread kindness wherever you go!

  1. Good luck! I'd need more than that even if I didn't work:)
