As you all know, I am a creature of
habit, and a lover of routines with a deep fondness for schedules. Case in
point, today is Sunday. I am currently watering my trees and writing this blog
(barring laziness on my part, I try to write my blogs on Sunday so they’re
ready for Wednesday…it helps to be prepared). I have already ironed my clothes
(five outfits, one for each day of the week plus an extra, just in case there’s
a wardrobe malfunction) and in a little bit (after I’m finished here), I’ll cut
up my veggies and make my salads for the work week.
So, all that being said, what you might not know is
that this love of routines and habits extends to grocery shopping, too
(which is a Sunday chore). Mayonnaise? Always
Best Foods (east of the Rockies , this is known
as Hellman’s). Ketchup? Heinz, of course. Tuna? Chicken of the Sea. I very
seldom vary from the brands I know and trust, but every now and then, I do try.
Sometimes with good results.
Sometimes―well―not so much.
Here’s an example of not so much. I tried, just last week in fact, to make a change. I
bought (gasp!) the store brand toilet tissue after years and years of buying
only Northern Quilted. What prompted this experiment? Let’s just chalk it up to
a moment of madness!
Was it worth it?
In a word―No.
To counter that not
so much experience, I needed something with good results so I read a “new
to me” author—Lorraine Heath. I’d never read her before, but a friend had
shared what a wonderful author she is so I just had to try one of her stories. And
I loved it!
Needless to say, I will be going through her
backlist! This is a perfect example of trying something new and being ecstatic
with the results!
When was the last time you tried something new?
Until
next time, remember to spread kindness wherever you go.
Marie
