Hello,
gentle readers!
The past two weeks have been full of emotional
upheavals for me. First, the good…I went to the InD’Scribe Conference in Burbank . What a wonderful
conference! The workshops were excellent, the keynote speakers inspirational
and meeting authors and readers from all over the country was phenomenal!
I’m still exhausted and still trying to sort
through all the information in my head.
The best part? I got to see Lexi, the mistress of
this blog! It had been two years since we’ve seen each other in person. Yes, we
email and talk on the phone, but there’s nothing like looking across the table
and seeing her smile!
Now, for the bad…my furry, four-legged companion
passed away…quite unexpectedly. Those of you who read this blog know about my Schatzie
and what a wonderful dog she was. I have lost companions before and one expects
that when they’ve had dogs all theirs lives…they only come into our lives for a
short period of time and fill our hearts with love, but this is different. I
still…see her…her perky ears and wagging tail, her eyes all shiny and full of
mischief, the way she would talk to me when she wanted a cookie. And I miss
her. Terribly.
The DH and I…don’t quite know what to do with
ourselves. She was such a big part of our lives and the house is way too quiet
and empty without her nails clicking on the linoleum or the little noises she
made when she wanted to play (and she wanted to play all the time, especially
when I was trying to write).
We will look for another companion because that’s
what we do…no matter how hard saying goodbye is, we’ve accepted the fact that
we must have a dog (or two) in the house. We don’t do well without cold, wet
noses and slobbery doggie kisses.
So….the hunt begins. I hope we can find another
German shepherd as sweet and funny as Schatzie was.
Until
next time, remember to spread kindness wherever you go.
Marie
